Diary entry for Monday 27th June 2011

Hello Everyone,
Monday
Well it was a nice early start and I was greeted by rain and the fact I had forgotten to write the diary, so after letting the animals out, not that the goats wanted to come out, I made a start on the diary. When Woody woke up we had a break in the rain so he decided it would be best to save time and while I finished the diary he ventured up the Lucerne with the animals which should have given us a good starting time to get the car repaired and insured. But for some reason our plans always fail. I had just finished the diary and it was ready for checking (my spelling is awful) as Woody was coming down from the Lucerne, I noticed that he was carrying one of the goats and raced out to see what was wrong. It was Daisy, and she was not at all well, all her symptoms showed signs of poison or pregnancy toxaemia, we felt sure it couldn't be pregnancy toxaemia as it was to late after kidding and poisoning we weren't sure how or what she could have eaten. We were puzzled and after a bit of research, and speaking to a vet we put her on a rigorous combination of treatments, we rang the Romanian vet and he wouldn't be able to come up till tonight, so that wasn't any help. We spent most of our day mixing concoctions and drenching poor Daisy. She would pick up in herself and then half an hour later drop right back down hill, and unfortunately for us we could only sit there and watch and hope one of the treatments would work. Which meant the diary was the last thing on our mind and finally got sent to our 'Webmaster, Sir', when we stopped for lunch. The afternoon was again spent administering medicine and watching, waiting, hoping and praying. She went up and down most of the day and there were times we thought we would lose her and times you could hardly tell there was something wrong, but the battle continued throughout the day. When it came to feed time she managed to eat a small amount of food and a few bits of carrot, it was a start but neither of us wanted to get our hopes up too high and being very level headed (which can be hard sometimes) we knew it was still early days and it would be a while before she was out of the woods. It was a busy night doing 2 hourly checks on Daisy with medicine.
Tuesday
It was an early morning for me while Woody took some time for sleep we decided last night to do it in shift patterns, I spent the day looking after Daisy and she was starting to show signs of improvement which was hopeful. She managed to come out for half an hour during the afternoon and even managed to eat a few of her favourite weeds. In between caring for Daisy took the time to do some weeding in the greenhouse. When Woody woke during the early evening, he took over looking after Daisy and I started on the house chores and dinner before I got an early night leaving Woody to night shift.
Wednesday
Daisy got up and came out with the rest of the animals this morning and it was good to see, I took over the morning routine while Woody got a few hours sleep today he was going to get up at lunch time leaving me free to go and sort the first problems with the car, tax and insurance. It was a long afternoon with sorting the paperwork out, it took about an hour to sort insurance as there was a problem with the computer and then a long, long walk to the petrol station to get the tax, by the time I got home, I was knackered and feeling the heat. Woody hadn't had a great afternoon either, Daisy was going up and down all day and we couldn't understand why but during the afternoon she really took a turn for the worst and we were running out of ideas but we carried on with the battle, unfortunately at about 9pm Daisy lost the battle and passed away, it was a sad and quiet night for us, and know that we needed to keep a very close eye on Pettie (Daisy Daughter), luckily she is old enough to cope without milk now and Daisy had been weaning her gradually but we still needed to keep an eye on her to make sure she stayed with in the group and didn't lose any weight.
Thursday
It was a late start to the day as we were both knackered after the last couple of days, but there was no time for sitting down as today we had to see about getting the car fixed. After all the morning jobs had been done, I drove a very spluttery car down to the garage, it was no fun. When we arrived we explained the problems in our best Romanian and the guys started looking and fiddling and they found a pipe from the water pump that had a leak in it so replaced that and also replaced the filter, it all cost a grand total of 35lei and he thought that should fix the problem and we were on our way, the car felt and sounded a lot better and we were off to get feed for the animals food, on the way down the car started playing up again and as we turned into the feed mill we were unsure on whether we should buy feed or not! We got a small amount and limped the car back to the garage to say it was still not working properly. The mechanic took it for a test drive and by the time he returned he felt sure he knew what the problem was, and it was not good, he insisted I leave the car there and he would get on with the work tomorrow so we leave the car and head home on the bus with a bag of feed, leaving the other bag there. It was a turn around straight away as we hadn't realised the time and we should have left for the accountant already. There was forms I needed to sign so we can complete some of the paperwork on line, which hopefully will make life simpler, then it was shopping. We got home at 8pm and were both hot tired and couldn't be bothered to move, we finally got round to dinner at 11pm and then bed was calling us.
Friday
We had to stay close to the phone all day today as we were waiting for the garage to call to find out what was happening with the car, so while Woody started the morning jobs, I decided to do a little bit of clearing and tidying of the lounge. It was 10am and I was just in the middle of creating a dust storm in the lounge by sweeping the floor and the phone rang............ I was scared, I thought it can't be the garage already and if it was, was it good or bad news. Well it was the garage and the car was ready for collection, we drop everything and head straight down there, in total shock. We still don't know what was wrong with the car he told me a lot of Romanian mechanical talk and I did the typical feminine thing nodded and agreed, but it was fixed he had started work on it at 5am that morning. It was good to have the car back and it was definitely working a lot better now, we both breathed a sigh of relief, normal work can resume!! We got home just after lunch and had a picnic up the lucerne with the animals and then Woody took the afternoon off while I finished the cleaning of the lounge, it is rare we take time off but today was Woody's Birthday and he has reached a quarter of a century so we both thought an afternoon off would be a good idea. After all the evening jobs were done we had a bbq and when the animals went to bed we went to the beach for the evening and had a lovely time. It was a lovely and very special evening for us both.
Happy Birthday Woody, glad you had a lovely day.
Saturday
Another late start for us today, as it was a late night last night. The animals were not happy and to show us that they don't like late starts they decided to be pests all day and found every escape hole that they possibly could. So until about 3pm we spent another very hot day running from the greenhouse work to catch goats, and by 3pm the joke was getting old. After a quick tea Woody decided to head up the lucerne early, and then walked outside to see the weather, there was a huge bank of black cloud heading our way, in 5 minutes the weather changed from a lovely day to what we can only described as scary, gale force winds ripped through the back garden sending things flying everywhere, you couldn't see through the dust blowing off the road and mini whirlwinds were dancing all around us, we rushed to get all animals in and save the goats and sheep. They were easy as they were scared and in all ready just leaving the dogs, also scared and wanting to get in. Just as we managed to get everyone in we had torrential rain, and the temperature had dropped about 25c in about 10 minutes it went from a scorching 48c to at our last look 23c. We sat watching the weather hoping our buildings and roof would stand up to it and within half an hour it was over and the sun was back out it was still windy but it was as if nothing had happened. Woody goes off to the lucerne and I start replacing things to their rightful position and collecting things that had been blown around.
It was quite a different scene in the UK though. Today was the Cycle Ride, and I would firstly like to take this opportunity to give a big shout out to all the riders that completed the challenge, a huge 'Thank You' for your support, a shout out to the organisers and a 'Thank You' for all your hard work and organising. I hear the day started off cold but warmed up towards the end. I will write a full report on the Cycle Ride next week when I have all the info and photos, but for now Thanks to you all for your support and I hope you all had a really good day.
Sunday
We woke to rain and 40mph winds, it wasn't a good day, we have actually had to get trousers and jumpers back out because it is so cold. The animals spent the day avoiding the on and off rain and we spent the day avoiding the on and off rain while trying to secure various escape holes the animals had made. After the evening jobs and all animals had gone to bed early due to rain, we had just settled down to start on the diary, when we hear something going on in the back garden and go out to find Tori the pig running around like crazy in the wind she too was in the escaping mood, I think the turn in weather has made every go a bit mad. Woody repaired the whole while I chased a pig round the garden, it took us about an hour and a half to get whole fixed and pig back to bed, 10 minutes for the whole an hour and 20 minutes chasing said pig. By this time it was 10:40pm and I my head was banging so the diary was postponed till the morning.

And for this week that is about all peeps, so I will say
L8RZ peepz until next week.

Its simple to do.
